General Competition Info

The 2009 league was a huge success, with tightly contested plastic class bringing newcomers to the sport. The season culminated in the NI squad competing at the World Championships in Santa Cruz, Portugal. The Squad finished in a repectable 3rd place amongst the best surfkayakers in the World. In the individual events, the squad once again came home with a World Champion in Corin King, who placed 1st in the Junior IC, special mention should also go to Andy Mc Clelland for coming runner up to Corin. We still aim to build on our successes and want to encourage as many paddlers as possible to enter our competitions.

Congratulations should go to James O'Donnell who finished in 1st place in the Plastic Class this year, with special mention to Stephen Yaminali and John Donaghey in 2nd and 3rd places.

This year’s comps are the qualifying events for the 2010 Home Internationals.

The 2009 League was sponsored by Mega Kayaks (surfkayaks.com), who has not only provided us with demo boats for the club, but also supply the prizes for the overall winners of each class in the league.
